Sunrise....Sunset......

Hard to believe it's already been over three weeks of near paradise.

It's been full of great food, beautiful views, and tanning on the south facing balcony behind the wall blocking the north blowing wind!

One more day - one more sunset - at least one more great meal - and then back to B'ham with a tan and few extra pounds;-))

Books on the Beach...

I've read quite alot while on this vacation - much more than usual. I finished reading "The Help" (highly recommend) and last night finished Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue". I wasn't even that sure I wanted to read it even while I was at the bookstore buying it, but I'm extremely glad I did and wish I could convince all women, regardless of their political views, to read this woman's story. The book, of course, has much of her political views included, but more importantly, it makes you understand and admire a woman who knows who she is and fights for what she believes (in this wishy, washy world - under great pressure to be something she was not - scrutinized in every detail - and finally sued into submission). I also understand why she had to write the book - even in my unimportant life I sometimes want to write a book to explain how I got to where I am and why I have to choose the direction I need to take. I am sorry I did not support her more...

Sunshine on my Shoulder...

Makes me Happy!!!!!

Two days of warm, glorious sun and the world seems such a better place ;-))) My skin is tingling with a fresh burn, we're off to dinner after watching a glorious sunset, and I'm about to indulge in cocktail time. Read 6 magazines cover to cover, two novels and starting on "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. Knitting just a little. You all wouldn't be too mad if I moved here would you????

Starting to Unwind!

It always takes a few days to let the sea air flush out the mold in my brain and the seafood and key lime pie to replace KFC, but the process is beginning...
Not tons of sun yet but I guess it's better that way or I'd already be on my first peel!
So wonderful looking at the pool (which somebody else keeps clean), the beautiful beach (also groomed each day -not by me), and peaceful sunsets (compliments from above;-))

Merry Christmas from the Flatt's at Marco!!

Been a Little Busy!!

Where do I begin?? The last month has been a whirlwind of activities...the kitchen redo that began in August reached full tear out three weeks ago right in the middle of the shop's Christmas Open House...and the AAUW Christmas bazaar...and the shop's Knit Nite Christmas party...and then Marissa's TV went out...and she needed a new bed for her back at the farm...terrible weather made horse care the pits...my Saab started acting up so I bought a new car which I returned the next day and got my ol' Saab back...fix that one later...bisque and glazed fired my student's work...

not complaining...just explaining!!

But all is well because we're now at the beach on Marco Island!! The weather isn't perfect yet, but I actually sat and read a newspaper this morning! Put up our micro tree and train set on the table facing the beach, haven't picked up a needle or hook in three days...I'm content!

New Knitter!

Congratulations to Anna and Greg and welcome to 9 lb. Miranda Elaine! Everybody is reported to be doing well and even though I had picked the 7th on our betting pool, Miranda decided making her appearance on knit nite would be more appropriate ;-))) (Wonder who picked the 5th??) We'll be anxiously awaiting photos of their sweet new knitter!! (Anna's blog is E-Blogger's Chez Squirrel)

Nothing going on in my world to top that news so I'll just add a picture of my sweet baby girl;-)))

Smiling Faces!

Happy is as happy does....

Can't beat the grin on these three faces!

Tonni and Stacey proudly spin on their new Schacht Saxony wheels. Suzanne's entrelac scarf would put a smile on anybody's face - her knitting stitches are so incredibly precise!

I've been busy knitting up samples of all the new yarns - 3 down and 6 to go! Larry and Marissa are off to Tennessee for a few days so I might even get a pot or two thrown this weekend - which will definitely put a smile on my face ;-)))))))
